Briefly explained
How does bending work?
The bending and edging of sheet metal belongs to the non-cutting forming processes in which the workpiece is brought into shape by the application of mechanical force. The angle of the bend can be any size. A distinction is made here between bending of sheet metal and round bending of bars and tubes.
A distinction is made between three main bending methods. In die bending, the material to be formed is pressed by a punch into a die with the final shape.
In swivel bending, on the other hand, the sheet is held in a stop system; an upper beam presses the sheet against a specially shaped lower beam. An angle is then pressed into the sheet by an additional bending beam.
In roll bending, on the other hand, the sheets are passed through rotating rolls that shape the material. Profiled rollers can even transfer patterns onto the sheet metal.
